During the great “Trump Trade War”, America set it’s sights on Hong Kong to start a “color revolution” there.

The term Color Revolution started in the ’80s and is the name given to CIA led regime change operations developed by RAND Corporation, “democracy” NGOs, and other groups. They were used to take down the Polish Communist regime, the Gorbachev Regime, and so on.

These “color revolutions” are fifth-column military operations run by covert assets used to disrupt other governments and collapse the region.

A fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within, usually in favor of an enemy group or nation. 

The activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine. 

Forces gathered in secret can mobilize openly to assist an external attack. 

This term is also extended to organized actions by military personnel. 

Clandestine fifth column activities can involve acts of sabotage, disinformation, or espionage executed within defense lines by secret sympathizers with an external force.

Then, the USA sets up proxy governments in place, and they become semi-United States territories.

Government by-proxy refers to administering United States government goals and intentions by arranged leadership. 

Vichy France is the common name of the French State headed by Marshal Philippe Pétain during World War II. The French nation an independent ally of Nazi Germany until late 1942 when Berlin took full control of France. Germany owned and ran France as a conquered nation, but Vichy France  remained responsible for the civil administration.

Government by proxy gained dominance by several American neocon scholars starting in the 1980s. 

Notably, the network government has adversely grown over time leading to a widespread of proxy use globally.

Existing proxy nations of the United States include Japan, Canada, South Korea, and Australia.

Western aligned assets were put in place in the preceding decades during British rule of the Territories. These territories consist of a scattered group of islands collectively known as the Hong Kong SAR.

Hong Kong is the premier financial and business center in China and a regional financial leader. 

Hong Kong is one of China's special administrative regions (SARs). 

An SAR is a relatively autonomous regions within the People's Republic of China that maintain separate legal, administrative, and judicial systems from the rest of the country.

Through 2017 into 2018 these assets organized into enclaves to recruit “loyalists” for the cause of an independent Hong Kong that adopted “Western style values”.

The distinctive feature of what is commonly referred to as "Western" values is its emphasis on the freedom of the individual. We often call this body of political and economic thought Western because it emerged from the European Enlightenment, albeit with many twists and turns.

In 2019, the full-scale onslaught began.

It lasted through 2020, and it collapsed when the Chinese government arrested the CIA assets in bulk. Then, arrested and jailed the Chinese collaborators. Finally, they put in place systems to prevent this kind of event from ever repeating again.

Donald Trump “threw in the towel” and said (more or less) that HK was a lost cause.

Of course, these efforts can still occur, but they will need to start from scratch all over again. And there will need to be a completely different methodology involved.
