More stories of personal heroism in China. This is part thirteen.
Here are some more videos of personal heroism. These videos all take place in China, and show examples of how average, normal, everyday people (or dogs and cats) can make a difference. When the calling strikes and an emergency occurs, will you be the one who turns their back, or will you run and offer help? Will you be the one who stays playing on the cell-phone, or will you lend a helping hand? Will you be the person who will make a difference in the lives of those around you, or are you just going to fade into the background.
Make a difference. Be like Rufus!
Please kindly note that this post has multiple embedded videos. It is important to view them. If they fail to load, all you need to do is to reload your browser.
These are all micro-videos of very short duration. From ten seconds to three minutes. I would suggest that you, the reader, allow them to load to get the full experience.
Video 1 – Chasing down a hit and run driver.
Here we have two drivers that witness a hit and run accident. They chase after the guy, and run him down. Then call the police. Be the Rufus. It is our highest calling.
Video 2 – The dangers of being a fireman.
I strongly believe that we are not giving firemen the credit they deserve. It is their job to plunge head-first into danger. They do so even though it means that their own life is on the line. Be the Rufus.
Video 3 – Returning a woman’s purse.
Just be good. Do good deeds. Help people in need. Support others and be kind. It’s not about greed, or climbing the social ladder. It’s all about being true to our inner convictions.
Video 4 – Elementary students help an old lady.
Yup. Even children can be the Rufus. Do good. Help others. It’s a human calling.
Video 5 – Old lady collapses on the street.
There are a lot of old people in China. There are! The often reported statistic that the average longevity of Chinese is 60 years old is sorely, woefully, and terribly out of date. Most Chinese men and women today live into their late 80’s and 90’s. (Well, officially it is in their late 70’s. But here in the Macao / Hong Kong area, it is much, much higher.)
As such, they move about. The walk around… but not so well. Being in your sunset years isn’t a walk in the park, don’t you know.
What do you do when one of these elders collapse in front of you? You be the Rufus.
Video 6 – Nurses spring into action.
Rufus is not gender dependent. It is not race or species dependent, either. Here we have a nimble nurse doing what ever it takes to rescue man in distress.
Be the Rufus.
Video 7 – Rescue a drowning man.
Don’t just stand there and point. The real Rufus springs into action. He does what ever it takes. He’s not afraid. Not at all. He takes the leap… on faith… without thinking.
Are YOU up for the calling?
Video 8 – Stranger saves a man simply.
Sometimes we are guided by the supernatural. We all have a guardian angel and yes, they can materialize and help us out…
Video 9 – Young men clear the way for an ambulance.
Traffic can get really terrible in China. What are you to do when there is an ambulance in need, and grid-lock for miles? You be the Rufus, that’s what! You go car to car. Knocking on windows as you go. You get people to move out of the way.
You do it Rufus-style.
Video 10 – Rufus springs into action.
Sometimes you are just minding your own business, walking down the road, and you confront a crisis situation. You just don’t have seconds. You must react then and there. Lives are at stake! Are you up for the challenge?
Be the Rufus.
Thank you for reading this.
God bless.
Conclusion
We do not know when the calling will come.
However, when it calls, you must take action. It will not make you wealthy, rich, famous, or attractive. But, it will make a difference when you are judged upon death. Be the Rufus. Make a difference. Help others. It’s our highest calling.

Here are some other similar posts on this venue. If you enjoyed this post, you might like these posts as well. These posts tend to discuss growing up in America. Often, I like to compare my life in America with the society within communist China. As there are some really stark differences between the two.
